All About Gifts

A person's relationship with God is a give and take relationship, like any human relationship. He blesses us abundantly and we respond by giving him our talents, both of this world's goods and our abilities.
The Best Gifts
I found myself in Hawaii as a military wife one year \with no money at Christmas time. But the season was rich and full of gifts anyway
The best gifts come from God:
A glorious pink-flamingo sunrise over a Hawaiian sea,
a palefaced moon over the same South sea
that casts a silvery path to the starry sky.
Morning and night.
Waking and repose.
The best gifts come from God Almighty.
So be content already.
My Gift
Dear Lord,
I'm not one to be rich
in this world's goods.
I cannot give gobs of money to charity
or even do the volunteer work
I used to do
because of the price of gas.
Everything costs so much today.
So I give my poetry as a gift to you.
It is my best talent.
Do you accept gifts
from the hands of poor sinners?
You did accept a gift
from a woman of ill repute once.
She anointed you for burial.
Please accept my humble gift too.
I anoint for your return.
