Container a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A poem about the boundaries we put ourselves in and how can we break the mold? We don't seem to want to change.
Container
Container
Oh what do we seem
to live in?
Is it that of a glass jar
or an invisible container
surrounding our world.
And then we ourselves
are containers.
We've got these
imaginary boundaries
that we can't seem to escape.
They seem to trap
us and keep us in the moment
of now.
We stay the same
and sometimes
we don't bother to change.
Our containers sometimes
stay unwatered.
Our roots and blooms
become deprived.
Oh what a container
we have put ourselves in.
Go find our hammer
and shatter the walls
that seal it tight.
Break boundaries
and discover the space beyond.
Our container is just
a shelter that won't
let us grow.
