How Would I Face Death?

How would you face death? How would I? Would I want to know? I think I would - to make plans and ask forgiveness. How about you?
How Would I Face Death?
I wonder how I would be,
If facing death and eternity.
Would I run and hide away?
Or would I rise to face the day?
I would like to know, for sure,
To plan and think and be secure.
In leaving loved ones far behind,
Leaving work and the daily grind.
I hope that I could be secure,
And hope that they could fine a cure.
If not I'll live until the last,
And hope that all forgives my past.
I pray that I have time to do,
Everything I wanted to.
I'd take a trip and sail away,
And enjoy the special days.
I'd get up early and stay up late,
I'd sit and watch by the garden gate.
All the birds I love to see,
Sitting in my dogwood tree.
I'd watch the butterflies flit around,
And sit upon the summer ground.
I'd watch the hummies come to feed,
At their feeder on my tree.
I'd pray that God would take me fast,
Please don't make my pain last and last.
Please let me die with dignity,
And, the lord, I hope to see.
