India is shining, India is on the rise and the incredible India are the catch phrases in use today. In fact, they form an important subject of my forthcoming book ESCAPADES OF EMMA IN INCREDIBLE INDIA. Here are some events to prove my point.
India made headlines.
India made headlines.
Yesterday 31st October 2011 India made headlines for different reasons.
First Grand Prix.
The inaugural Grand Prix of India at Buddh International circuit at Greater Noida, a suburb of New Delhi was a resounding success. Ninety-five thousand spectators watched the show with delight as Formula 1 cars screamed and zoomed along the newly laid circuit. The glitterati of the Bollywood and Indian sports attended the event in large numbers and added extra sheen to it. The Formula1 racing fraternity and the spectators hailed it as a grand success.
Lady Gaga showed up in India.
Lady Gaga dressed in her elegant ensemble designed by an Indian designer gave a press conference in Hotel Taj at Bombay much to the delight of her fans. She arrived in India mainly to give a concert after the Formula1 race.
Metallica rocked Bangalore.
Metallica, the hottest band, gave a live concert in Bangalore-the IT hub of India, and rocked the city. When they took the stage, the roar was deafening. The music that followed was electrifying. Twenty- two thousand fans that paid astronomical amounts to hear their music went into rapture.
7 billionth baby.
With the birth of a baby in UP, one of the states of India, yesterday the population of the world has crossed the seven billion mark.
THE HINDU literary festival.
THE HINDU a leading national daily conducts a literary festival every year and selects the best work of fiction. For the second successive year, a debut novel struck gold at The Hindu's “Lit for Life” literary festival. Rahul Bhattacharya bagged the ‘The Hindu Literary Prize for Best Fiction 2011' for his The Sly Company of People Who Care.
The book, which narrates a young Indian's Caribbean adventures in the company of a Guyanese diamond-hunter, won the award for “its consummate artistry, and its non-judgmental attitude to the characters.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh ($10K) and a plaque.
Unfortunately, yours truly has not even been mentioned in passing by any of the judges. Of course, none of my books was published in 2011, but that is beside the point.

India is close to my heart for her fair share of mysticism and ancient knowledge imparted to the western world ...and your humor too.

When even an insignificant event is thrown to limelight by the media, it gains importance.
And many important events might go unnoticed, after all an event has to be 'perceivable' by someone who recognizes it and reveals its significance to the world and there must be a majority to appreciate it to turn it into an important event in the history.

Rathnasikhamani garu,
Even justice must be done and seem to be done. Perception is very important. For a thing to be perceived, it's the media which alone has the power to spread the message.
