Inebriated and Negated

Alcohol is legal and socially sanctioned in many cultures. It is not, however, necessarily a good thing and there are ALWAYS trade-offs involved in getting inebriated.
To Drink of Not to Drink?
Alcohol reduces self
To something less than it might be,
Sliding consciousness onto a back shelf;
Eyes remain but they can’t see.
It’s the vacate in vacation,
Who was home has gone away;
Empty plans and useless ruminations
Keep most useful thought at bay.
Both legal and tempting
As a way to recreate,
The liquids are oft pre-empting
Better options brought by fate.
Inebriated and berated
From within and from without,
Waking with a head that aches
Signals time to apply the brakes
To retrieve the cells the liquor takes
And resist another bout.
Inebriated and negated
Though other drinkers laugh along,
Self-diminished and decompensated
Rendering weak who once was strong.

David yet another great article and as a user of the red Grape can relate or as Oscar Wilde said. "Write drunk but edit sober"

Drinking can bring about the loss of a brother, a mother, and even, heaven forbid, one's own car when it is towed away.
