Love Enters Softly a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A poem about waiting for love to happen, letting love go, and new love coming when we least expect it.

Love Enters Softly and grows and grows

Love Enters Softly

We all are waiting for love to find us.
We sit and wait and will it to happen.
We want love now,
and get upset when we don't find it right away.
We should just tend to our gardens
and not worry about when and where
we are going to find love.
Some of us have loved once or twice.
And then we had to let love
fly away on the wings of the dove,
that is carrying love to someone new.
We cry ourselves to sleep
and wish for that love to return to us,
but it is suddenly not free
for us to hold.
It isn't ours anymore.
All we have are memories
of good times
and let the bad times
twirl away down the drain.
We don't want to remember
bad memories.
We cry at night and dream
of new love
that hasn't found us yet.
We spend time by ourselves
tending to the things
that we hold dear.
We find hobbies and things
to surround ourselves with.
Hold onto dreams that we want to fulfill.
Suddenly, when we aren't thinking of it,
love enters softly.
Our soulmate has arrived to claim what is his.
We let him into our lives
and our beating hearts beat only for him.
It has entered softly
and becomes loud and clear.
Love has spoken for us
and tells us he is the one.
He's here to stay
and that soft spoken love
grows and grows.
It becomes strong and unbreakable
and spending time with newfound love
is what we have longed for
all along.
We breathe for him,
and he catches it in his gentle hand.
He kisses, hugs, and devours us
with his kindness and passion.
We savor every moment
as if it will last forever.
Nothing in this world is forever,
but when we find new love,
we hold onto it tightly
and don't lose our grasp.
Love has found us again
and we are grateful
to have him in our lives.
So when love enters softly,
free your heart
and make space
for Mr. Right to walk right in
and take what is rightfully his.
