Ma...Who Turned Out The Lights...?

Having recently undergone a six hour ordeal of having no electrical supply myself, this somewhat humorous take on a poem popped into my head...Taken from a kiddies point of view on just how frustrating life becomes when plunged into darkness...

Ma...Who Turned Out The Lights..?

'Ma, it's dark, I canna see..
why can't you flick a switch?
Flood this room with lots of light,
as I canna see a stitch!
It is too dark, with black on black..
I fear that I'll fall over,
Och, that hurt, I've torn me shirt,
and trod on poor old Rover!

The little man, who said he can,
is cussing quite a bit..
His head's stuck in 'lectricity box,
and naughty words lets slip!
And it was fun, when he first come,
then it was nice and bright,
yet he's been here for ages, Ma ,
it's now as black as night!

Ma,..I'm hungry, want me tea..
and want some telly too..
I can't stay in me bedroom,
and too dark to find the Loo!
Can't see to do me homework,
brother's itching for a fight..
Oh Ma, I know I've asked before,
but who turned out the lights?????'.

Thanks, Songbird. Your poem is cute and rings so true. Finding a coin in the dark for an electric meter was fun too.
