Leaving home is always hard when you build such amazing memories with loved ones
Daddy
Children laughing smiles on their face
Blonde little girl dressed in all lace
Daddy’s holding her hand, that’s his little girl
He picks her up and gives her a twirl
Teaching her about life he speaks from his past
He can’t believe she’s growing up so fast
Days spent together the highs and the lows
He dreds the day he has to let her go
How beautiful, smart, & determined she’ll show
All that and more…he already knows
He remembers the day he heard he would be a dad
Feelings of excitement and joy, no sad
Holding her in his arms she would just sleep
He couldn’t wait for the day that they would finally meet
Never forget the day of her first words
The sound of da-da he couldn’t believe he heard
Disappointments, teasing, sad times right there through it all
He was her savior when she started to fall…
Like two peas in a pod they were just alike
He taught her how to ride her first bike
Camping, fishing, boating, and playing ball
She did everything with him, she loved it all
Partners in crime they’d make boring days fun
Driving to new places or learning to shoot a gun
The loved shared between them no one can describe
“Stay at home”, “don’t move out”, he would try to bribe
The gain for independence, new journey at hand
All the room packed in boxes, in the doorway she’d stand
Moving to an apartment, today was the day
No more goodnight cuddling together on the couch they’d lay
“I’ll miss you so much and love you” she’d say
“Daddy you’ve done great at teaching and guiding me the way”
“This is not goodbye I’ll be back to stay”
…“If you ever need to, you know you may”
So quiet, so different, no family, just me
Can I adapt and get used to how this will be
Liking the sense I can come and go so free
Excited of learning and what I will see
A journey to finally find me
New friends to make, new noises, new smells
Experiences and advice everyone tells
No more mamas cookin or goodnight kisses

Another lovely poem I enjoyed today.
This is a great tribute to a loving and caring dad.
Well written with an easy flow of words.
