This original poem was written by the author, Jeni Platt, in the year 2005. It vividly illustrates some of the beautiful things she loves.
"Natural Sights" 2005
The sun setting over the trees,
Orange and pink over the greens.
The sky seems to be aflame,
Virginia sunset is its name.
The ocean crashing on a beach,
The waves ebbing just out of reach.
Sea green and indigo over white sand,
And palm trees swooning on the land.
A horse galloping across a field,
With sleek coat and eyes that reel.
Graceful movements, powerful strides,
The bliss of a horseback ride.
Red roses, so velvet and pure.
To me act as a lure.
The spiral that makes up the petals,
Softens the worst case of nettles.
Mist in the morning,
After dawn's awakening.
A haze drifts through the trees,
And dances in the early breeze.
The darkening sky of a storm,
The excitement as the air warms.
Thunder crashing across black skies,
White flashes of lightning in my eyes.
