A Memory - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
A Memory:
Memories show the weary face,
Of someone once happy long ago,
Down within his only happy place,
A place he chooses not to go.
As a year is said and done,
His mind has decided,
That the memory will never be gone.
Thoughts that last day to day,
Sometimes throughout the night,
Reminding him of the loss of friendship,
That causes the tears he cried.
The memories that dance around him to and fro,
Give him feelings that he doesn't want to show.
Heroic Soldier - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
War is surrounding and it always survives,
Many gave up their future to save countless lives.
Pick up the rifle with a trembling hand,
A heroic soldier has a plan.
Run into battle with a fierce cry,
The soldier makes his stand for he had to try.
That soldier fought hard and he fought well,
The triumphant soldier now has a story to tell.
War is forever as it never dies,
Many died that day trying to save numerous lives.
Thoughts - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
Thoughts like snow slowly melt away,
But one thought is to forever stay.
Tread through day,
And into night,
Thoughts that bring about feelings,
Make the soul want to fight.
Thoughts consume the mind,
Inventing feelings anew,
For now the body must be realigned,
That's all there is left to do.
Feelings of sadness,
Feelings of joy,
Some wish not to play with it,
As if it were a broken toy.
Hollowing thoughts bring about a sign,
Thoughts are what make the spirit unwind.
Rain - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
Times like this when I see it rain,
I stand and wait so it can numb the pain,
Let it wash away disgrace,
As I remember an unforgiving face.
Here I stand in a downpour,
Think of someone who is nevermore,
Wash away what deprived me for so long,
What I said I know was wrong.
Build the strength to accept what’s now,
Hard to believe she made that vow,
“I will never leave you.” She said once,
I sit and grieve from her absence.
Secret - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
Secrets I keep and hardly forget,
Secrets I make are ones I don't regret.
Secrets I hide under lock and key,
No one knows it's a part of me.
Secrets I compose,
For I am the only one who knows,
The world will never see me bring them alight.
Secrets are told through my own mind,
Secrets are what I leave behind.
Memories - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
Memories,
They travel through my mind,
Far beyond to a distant land,
Second chance that was never given,
One like no other.
I still wish she was my friend.
The thoughts play through my head,
Repeating over and over again,
You don’t know a thing about me,
Until you see the pain I’m in,
Why won’t she understand?
Someone who shows no sorrow or pity,
Not even remorse,
Someone who never cared,
When I think long and hard,
Have my emotions towards her become worse?
Promises - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
Weeping still from unforgettable days,
Knowing still she can't be replaced.
I kept the promises when she chose not,
Of those promises I have not forgot.
I have tried to reason with fate,
But now I think that I was too late.
Always feeling like a ghost,
I remember someone that I miss the most.
Struggling to keep up with my past,
The promises I make will forever last.
Hurricane - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
In silent whispers the wind must say,
I have terrible news headed this way.
Something destructive lurks this way,
It's uninvited and it comes without delay.
It brings about a darkened sight,
Be ready to calm the children for they are sure to scream in fright.
Stay indoors for it's dangerous outside,
Hope the power will not become fried.
The wind has warned us of it's arrival today,
A hurricane is quickly on its way.
Dream - Poem by David A. Richards, Jr.
Shoot towards the moon,
Undetermined to miss,
Look up at the sky unto the stars,
And make my final wish.
Lay my head down,
On this Earth,
Dream up stories,
Of re-birth.
Fate pulled together,
What no man can untie,
Life is what you make of it,
Until the day you die.
I have found,
In my mind a place,
Full of sad memories,
Awakened by a face.
Pictures that show,
That one plan is for sure,
Soon I’ll find her,
And then I’ll endure.
