Lamenting in the LORD

Hidden, am I, with Christ in God,
No matter the trample of enemy, trod;
Enemy's destined-lightly esteemed,
To the nightmare of my presence, I have dreamed.

Hidden, am I, from the joy of the LORD,
No matter how free, I cannot afford;
Could it be, my life consumed,
When it's my dream this death be solemnly exhumed?

Hidden, am I, from peace, content,
Home's my heart to riling lament;
But I will trust in the LORD, my Redeemer,
And not be revealed as an idolatrous dreamer.

Exilic encounters test our trust and obedience.

It's the honest servant of the LORD who admits, and expresses, their lamentations. Every believer is a sinner and will experience some form of exile - the disposal from the felt Presence of the LORD. True aloneness on a scale that's hellish.

But faithfulness is enjoined with patient trust, no matter how stark the exile seems. Faithfulness, thereabouts, gets us through... eventually.

Even as the darkness stays,
And the fuse is lit,
It is the Lord that says,
"You can do it!"

***

Help Me, Lord

Help me Lord,
In my triumphs and battles,
Only You will afford,
Victory of my shakes and rattles.

Help me Lord,
With that earnest sought peace,
Only as you accord,
Can I experience release. AMEN.

The 'Discovery Date',
Is the sort of thing,
Well worth the wait,
For the wonder it will bring.

***

Was life better before,
Or more acceptable now?
Depends on what's in store,
In our present mind somehow.

***

Being Honest Before God and Humankind

How can we say,
"All's so good"?
When really we pray,
"If only it could."

Instead, let's be honest,
Take a look inside,
A compassionate God loves us,
In Him we're never denied.

***

Where Are We Headed

It's not where we are now,
That matters so much,
But it's where we're headed,
The end-point and such.

Further than here,
The process contends,
Outcomes are wished,
And new life extends.

Soon enough we are there,
And the past has wasted,
Groans are ceased,
And grace we've now tasted.

***

Taste the injustice,
How else will we see?
That which will fuel us,
A better advocate to be.

***

Unmerited Favour

Unmerited favour is ours by the fact,
Of hearing the Word; committing to act.
Undeserved kindness has dealt with our dross,
All because we put our faith in the cross.
