Steps to Becoming a Published Writer

An Imagination that Ran Wild

I always wondered what it would be like to be writer, to be able to put words together so they converged into a beautiful story. When I was quite young at school, I loved English, I loved Composition and I really loved my History classes, basics I think for any writer. I imagined myself living in another time and I would make stories up in my head about who I was and what I did.

Yes, I had a very vivid imagination and sometimes my Mum had to shake me to get me to come back to reality...honestly I hated being in reality, everyday mundane living when my head was filled with all these glorious technicolor pictures of damsels and knights in white armor and medieval castles.

Commonsense Winning Out!!!!!

Commonsense did win out however. I had to get my act together so that I could function which meant learning a trade in order to earn a living. I applied myself to the Birmingham College of Commerce and became a quite proficient secretary and then went through the next 20 years from job to job although I must admit they did improve with time and I ascended the ladder till I became the private secretary and assistant to Steiner, the Hairdresser to Her Majesty, The Queen of England. La la la!!!

From there I dabbled my abilities a little to become PR to Rima Couture in London's fashionable Bond Street which in the 60's was a notable address. I met up with a number of now famous people who just then were starting their flights to fame. Vidal Sassoon for one, who starting off in lower Bond Street, moving soon enough to the other end of Bond Street and became a household name among the stars and upper echelon of that period. Even when he and I moved to New York City, we remained friends and he would come and tweak my locks as I was about to leave his salon there...he always seemed to know when I had an appointment!

Soon after I became the private secretary to Mr. Greenfield, the owner of and together we wrote a treatise on A Regular Handkerchief versus Kleenex!!! My writing days had commenced although I knew it not at the time.. I seemed able to take words, move them around and put together full-fledged and very interesting sentences.

From Soup to Nuts and Back Again!!

Quickly the days passed and being an inveterate traveler on all levels, I found myself in Miami teaching classes all about Behavioral Modification and soon had published my first book entitled 'Multi Dimensional Awareness - The Keys to Living Life'. My love of words and my unknown at the time but incorrigible way of pulling information from somewhere in space and making it sound very, very good made me a most sought after teacher.

So within a few months I had 12 weekly classes and over the years, my students of all ages attended them. I was also invited to give lectures to large groups of people using this incredible God given ability to pull words from out of the air - nowadays they call it channeling! During this period I co-wrote a book for children called 'Born To Learn', a new way of educating young minds that were still open to truth and responsibility.

Oh The Sweet Smell of Success!!!!

I was told that a special gift of writing for books, magazines, newspapers and the suchlike (the internet was not around at that time so web pages were unknown as a way of displaying one's writings) was being given to me and soon two of my articles were published in ‘Indulge Lifestyles’ - so exciting and I knew I was on my way. I was invited by the publisher of Southern California Guide to write editorial on the advertisers and had a double page spread to air my views on every subject/business possible.

Invitations poured in to become a member of Restaurant and Travel Associations and these gave me an enormous outreach for subjects to write on.

Since then my writings have been published all over the world in every kind of media and it is a wonderful to see the thing you love to do best resulting in such exposure. Quite recently I was invited to write for an anthology on mythical Beings. This was my first experience of writing this kind of genre and it opened me up to a very exciting new world.

I truly believe that when we access the inner, we can be party to enormous amounts of detail.

It is true I am passionate about writing and every subject, at least nearly every one, has something exciting to offer when I get into the essence of it for that is what makes a story shine and a fascinating read.
