A few thoughts on the application of justice against the backdrop of history and the mercy of God.
The Moonlighted Fields
Perplexed feelings, stranded
in the vastness
of truth denying truth,
like eagles rise and fall
again and again.
They look for food
snatching rhyming times
as if there was no
freedom to do or say;
shrieking insults, burning
symbols agitated by
their private voices of gloom.
Nevertheless, Celestial
Singers sing the vastness
of the trascendent blue
above, the somber threat,
the apocalyptic armies,
the silver blades and guns
of clashing word smiths.
Everything seems to fail.
They’ve come to believe in
the mutual muteness of each
other as a given, lucky streak.
But the night has fallen,
the moon shines again,
notwithstanding the blood,
the clamor, the lives spent.
Yet, nobody has seen any
victory so far, for Justice
has been left behind the trenches.
Only the offended senses
cry alone and despondent in
the cruel silence of the deserted
fields where no lilies seem to grow
anymore than tares and thistles.
