The Wings of Love

A poem about falling in love - how it takes you soaring on a new high. And then dashes you down.

The Wings of Love

I soared on high when first we met.
A romance bloomed and grew.
I fell in love with you and knew,
I felt my life would be with you.

That feeling of a new love defined,
Like a beautiful gift or very fine wine.
I spent my hours wanting to hear,
From you, my love, and be near.

Such love we had is with me still,
But you have gone away.
My feelings dashed on rocks you did,
I hoped that you would stay.

You went away and oh so far,
And left me far behind.
The only love I wanted Tom,
Was yours - it felt so fine.

You took my love and threw it down,
And left me in the dark.
My tears are falling down my face,
A new life I must embark.
