Thought of the Day: January 5th - Enhance Knowledge

This article is part of a continuing series of thoughts for each day of the year by Peter B. Giblett. This is for January fifth. The intent here is to produce a year of uplifting thoughts to assist you during the course of your day. Contributions are date focused, but not limited by the year.
Empower Yourself and Enhance Your Knowledge
January 5th is an ideal time to start to think about enhancing your knowledge on a special subject.
Pick any subject that you have always wanted to know more about. This can be anything you desire, the only criteria is that you have a wish to get to know more about it, yet have not had the time to enhance your knowledge of the subject to date. This does not have to relate to your profession or work specialisation.
Go to the library*; buy a book; or search using the Internet. Make this a mini-project that lasts a week or 10 days, no more. Self-education is always important, yet tends to be forgotten. At the end of the year you should have raised your level of understanding of a variety of subjects if you take on several self-learning mini-projects during the course of the year.
Remember what you learned at school, college or university is only the start of the journey, the knowledge you acquire in your lifetime stays forever and should always be enhanced.

* Going to the Library
Going to the library may be something that few of us do these days with the wealth of information available on the internet. Yet going to the library may actually suit the purpose as you will be performing a mini study course and there may be ready material available within your local library. Pop in at lunch time or on your way home from work. Return the item once you have completed your mini learning project.

self learning - can be challenging, but rewarding. My only schooling after high school was 10 months of intense nursing school - but I've had years of study under the 'School of Hard Knocks' - I often tell my children that when you stop learning, you start dying.
