Two baby deer came out of the woods yesterday. I was sitting on the deck watching them. Where was their mother? Probably killed on the road, leaving these two little fawns to fend for themself.

Two Baby Deer

Two baby deer came out of the woods,
They walked slowly along the edge.
They nibbled on follage and looked at the sky,
Where was their mother, I did wonder why.

I quietly watched as the babies drew near,
I did not want to see them soon disappear.
They both had spots all over their backs,
They are so young, I said in my tracks.

The baby deer leaped and jumped up so high,
They nibbled on green plants and then said good-bye.
Back into the woods they both went,
I watched them disappear - what an event!

I hope that the good Lord looks over these two,
And gives them a good life for them to ensue.
I pray that they live and that they survive.
And come back and visit me as they thrive.
