Where black is not beautiful

There is a belief in the minds of some people that somebody dark cannot be good-looking - because he or she is dark!
Fair skins are what they want
The statement that in African countries there are many beautiful women would be met with disbelief by people here. Why? Because, to their way of thinking, anything black cannot be beautiful.
Although there is no particular bias against people who are dark, or black, or white, for that matter, the fact is that everyone is graded by his colour. For example, a man who is brown, or deeply tanned, is described in the local language as being black, and a fair-skinned person is described as white – not white in the European/Caucasian sense, but white when compared to his countrymen,
But because of the belief that people black or dark cannot be good-looking, nobody wants to be dark, nobody wants to be tanned, nobody wants to be described as black. So everybody’s objective is to be fair, and this means using all kinds of whitening cosmetics, covering up all bare skin and carrying a parasol when venturing out into the sunlight, and staying inside until sunset when visiting the seaside.
And what kind of women are the men looking for? Well, they don’t want anyone dark, that’s for sure. What they want is someone as fair-skinned as possible, without looking obviously foreign.
But isn’t this unfair to the many women born with beautifully tanned skins? Yes, that’s true, but they need not worry about this because they will find that life will even things out for them, that the law of the attraction of opposites will come into play. For just as dark men are attracted to fair women, the white European/Caucasian type men are attracted to women who are dark.
So where does all this leave the men who are dark? Well, if they are poor, but honest and sincere, they will have no problems. But if they are rich, influential or powerful then, of course, they will find being dark is no obstacle to progress, and that the world is their oyster.

You're right!
"But if they are rich, influential or powerful then,..."
That's how the world is!
But rarely you find it differently!

I have never judged a person by the colour of their skin and nor should I. I am so happy I know one too many people that do not feel as you have stated. Thank you for sharing.:)
