Where dinosaurs come from

This is a fictional story I told my children on how dinosaurs came about and what happened to them afterwards.
Main story
Long time ago, a huge meteor crashed into earth broke into a million pieces. The impact was so great that dust from the broken pieces spread throughout the planet.
As the dust settled on the animals, many of them started getting sick and most of them died. Those that survived started losing their paws and furs. Their skin started to becoming hard and shinny. Some grew web between their toes.
In time, many mutated into dinosaurs. My son noted the similarities between the giraffe and those dinosaurs with long neck.
The mutation did not stop but continued for many generations but in the end the all died from the disease brought about by the meteor. What survived are the animals we see today.

convincing tale buddy. too short but the main core of the story was revealed. nice one!

Thanks for the comment. I think I was tired when I told the story so I kept it short.
This was a bedtime story to my children.
