Why Are Some People So Envious of Others?

The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. If you took the time to go over and survey it, you'd be able to see that there are some bare spots and brown patches, much like in your own yard. We need to stop being envious of what other have - we have no idea the price they had to pay to get it.

Being Me

You think it’s easy being me
But you only see the outside
Never knowing the inward struggle
The price paid or the sacrifices made
No one has handed me the world
On the proverbial silver platter
It seems effortless what I do
Yet you only view the finished product
You can’t begin to fathom
The work that goes on behind the scenes
Long hours and sleepless nights
Fervent prayers for the strength
Just to go on, just to stand
You’ll never know my struggle
Never fully know my story
If you did, you’d think twice
About wanting to be me

I agree Cashmere with your comment Ashan is a lovely poet her words are so apt i think. Envy is a very negative emotion in my opinion and can eat away at a person and control your life. I am not a person who suffers this kind of thing i am glad to say. Shakespeare spoke about the green-eyed monster in Othello and this utterance is now part of the English language but the meaning is clear envy or jealousy can cause such misery look what happenned to Othello and Desdemona i rest my case.
