Winter Evening

The long cold New England winter nights can bring a feeling of isolation but also one of pride and contentment.

Home from School

Nowhere is the end of a forgotten hill...
The last scool bus-stop
After the long cold ride home.

An old weathered beaten home
Overlooking the winter's ocean.
A place where memories are icy shadows
On a whitewashed sky--
Unyielding,
Alone on frozen shores of New England.

Beyond the Pier

Kissed tenderly by the white snow,
Chilled by the wind that blows...
Soft and cold
The winter night.

At dusk, the icy pink ocean-
Off-shore a gentle frosted light
In silent wonder glows.

The Winter Path

At the the end of winters day,
When the soft light of night comes
To lay gently on the forest...

There among the pine trees,
Beneath the growing shadows,
My boot-prints in the fresh snow
Mark the path that
Leads me back home.

Steve good morning thank you for your kind words... but I just put this page up to edit, it felt like rough copy to me this morning, :0) I have a new rule I must never write when I am grumpy or have a head cold...LOL...oh and yes that is our dream home in the woods,...this will be our 4th Christmas here...a lifetime and dream come true for us.

Mark, I would like to see pictures of your snow ...I love the winter, but must admit it is not as much fun to deal with as I get older...but I still feel that excitement when it snows and that amazing wonder at the beauty..I

Nice to meet you cowboynextdoor...when it snows there is a hush that falls on the earth as if it holds its breath while the world is magically transformed into a winter wonderland...the light takes a soft golden glow, a warm-cold that seems to surround and close the sky tightly around you as if your house is alone in the world of white and sparkle...:0)I hope you get to see the snow and know this special feeling cowboy...:0)

Dear Delicia:
Such beautiful poetry and pictures. We will get a group of Wikinutters together and come to visit you. Do you have a sleigh?

Ivy, I wish I had a sleigh:0) there is a snowmobile path in the woods behind me, as ever-once in a while one appears racing down the old dirt (now snow) road that leads to our house and then disappears into the woods...What magic it would be to see you all come wrapped in a plaid wool blanket...an a horse driven sleigh with bells jingling...like a Dickens story stepping out of its pages:0)...LOL

Deliciia, You love writing like I do. We could be a team of writers, lol. Well, this is lovely, I like the pics, and I just about fell in love with this line, "At dusk, the icy pink ocean-Off-shore a gentle
frosted light." You are awsome! Keep writing! Smiles, Bets

The wonders of nature from time immemorial never ceases to amaze anyone. We should live attuned to nature more, not less as modern lives take many away from it. We are, after all, part of nature, come from it and also soon become part of it, eternally! Straight from an inspiring heart, Delicia - siva
