Bears are large, harry men with beards. Think of the Village People having auditions for a new member of the Masculine, Manly, Bears.

What does the word "Bear" bring to mind?

Think about it. What does the word "Bear" bring to mind? A big, large, scary animal with fur attacking you. A Bear. A grizzly bear. A polar bear. A big black bear. Don't forget their cubs.
Got that image? Bears are large, harry men with beards. There's a wide range of meaning in the word large. They are muscular, hefty, or obese. Large.
Fur. Think of big men with a lot of hair on their body and a beard. Usually you see them with a beard, a goatee, a mustache, or all of them. Overall, they are the hairiest gay characters of them all. Your twinks are shaved or naturally smooth. Bears are naturally hairy. They trim, they comb, and they keep clean. Age. Older, mature and experienced. Masters. Bosses. Leaders. Take charge kind of men.

Motorcycle gang. Leather. Sado-masochism. Uniform men such as Police, Military, Firemen, Construction workers. In other words, picture the Village People at the YMCA. They are all bears. There is nothing gay about these Alpha Bears, except that they like other men.

However, most like their cubs.

Cubs are the younger bears in training. Cute little guys with hair still struggling to get out. Most are chubby and cute like little cubs in the wild. They're well taken care of and trained in the art of S&M. When you write Bears go Hog Wild (pardon the pun), think extreme masculinity in the wild sense of sexuality.
