100 Articles

One hundred articles in six months. Whew! I hope you will enjoy this poetic look back at my Wikinut experience. I thought about writing the entire thing in homophones -- but I decided to spare us all! Enjoy!

100 Articles on Wikinut

One hundred articles
In six months of time
On all sorts of subjects
And some of them rhyme.

I've written about grammar
Charlie and Jane
Skunks visiting funerals
Not the only refrain

Since the beginning,
I've shared many a piece
On faith and feminism
And wonders never cease

Those who don't know me
Still expect me to change
Seem upset when I don't
Isn't that strange?

A Strange Range of Change to Rearrange

I have changed a little
One might say I've found
Deleting comments more often
Has helped me stand my ground.

So oft are my opinions
Folks don't notice things unsaid
Articles I'll not write from
More stuff inside my head

Perhaps another year will find them
But for now I'd rather end
With special thanks instead
To many Wikinut friends.

Thank you

First of all, thank you to the moderators. I've posted a lot of wild and wacky, and got my one rejection fixed and publishable. It wouldn't have happened without your efforts, and I appreciate them. I also find myself seeped in controversy a lot, and haven't been blocked yet. I'd like to think it's because I'm polite in my rejoinders, but I know moderator mercy is also at play, and I appreciate it.

Next, Carolina, Connie, and Marilyn. I think we make quite a fearsome foursome, and I'm excited to see what new adventures we will find to write and share.

Then, there are the many, many Wikinutters who comment on each article with heartfelt support. I won't name names this time, since I would fear leaving out someone by mistake. I know Wikinuts come and go -- and I hope those that go move on to better and are happier for it -- still I am grateful to see so many familiar names in the comments.

Coming Events

Well, if you are a faithful follower, you know I have been working to write, promote, and sell my fiction. When not writing for Wikinut, I published The Carley Patrol in August, The Mother Confessor 2 in 1 edition in October, and Martha's Chickens and the Pirates November 30. In 2014, I have plans to publish a grammar book, a domestic humor non-fiction, 25 Reasons Why Charlie Should Never Read Jane's Books to Jane, A Muse Meant (YA FIC) and at least one other book for young children -- probably Orion Owl Forgets, but I've got many projects for kids and that's just one.

My son is attending a home-based online charter school in January. This will either give both of us lots of time to pursue our own interests or will complicate both our lives terribly. Either way, I'm going to try to keep an online diary of articles that I hope will help other parents considering home-schooling or already elbow-deep in home-schooling -- looking for support or laughter. I hope to continue giving both.

So 2014 is expected to be a busy, busy year for me! What will yours bring?

Good evening, Phyl the Prolific, Productive and Provocative One. You have been an inspiration to me and our Fearsome Foursome is just coming into its own. I think 2014 is going to be another year of writing, sharing and supporting each other. Happy New Year. ~Marilyn

I cannot think of any reason why you might be banned, after-all what is the value of writing without a little controversy.

Congrats on your 100th article my friend. You did yourself proudly. And I am looking forward for the next 100 from you. I just need 12 more to accomplish that mark. I am hoping that 2014 will be a break out year for me. Happy New Year to you.

Thanks, Clarence! I thought surely you'd already hit 100 -- but then more than one of mine are multi-part, and that helps. I do enjoy reading yours.

Congratulations Phyl, you are out of the blocks really fast and have overhauled many along the way! I have been here for two years and keeping up with one article a week. I have been reading all of yours lately and wish you success every way. Happy New Year - siva

I think one of the important things about Phyl's contribution is that articles have been both relevant and interesting and not just an attempt to make money by publishing any old junk as some writers have done.

All I can do is give my best effort. It seemed difficult, but do-able, to hit 100 this week, so I went for it, but keeping up that pace is probably not in the cards for me. And that's OK. Happy New Year to you as well -- I can't believe tomorrow is the last day of 2013 (but I must, right?). Best to you!

Thanks, L.R. This poem is more, well -- pedantic -- than those you grace us with, but I do give it a cute-sy effort now and again.
