A Benevolent Ghost.

An encounter with a ghost is fraught with several things mostly terrible and harmful. However, my experience was altogether different.

A Benevolent Ghost.

When my car stalled on a dusty road near a God’s acre, few miles short of the highway, I had a premonition that my evening was ruined. In the fading light, I found, to my horror, the car had given up the ghost, as the battery was dead as a dodo. My calls to the mobile workshop and others for help did not go through for want of a signal.

A ruined evening.

Then, the dusk yielded to the night. A scythe of the moon spreading a dim light lost itself in dense clouds, and the skies opened up. A thunderstorm started and forced me into the dark confines of the car. Stuck in a car all alone, with no light in sight anywhere, and with little or no chance of any help to come my way, I was down in the dumps.

The darkness engulfed me altogether. The heavy rain ruled out opening of the door for a breath of fresh air. The seconds stretched to minutes, minutes to hours, and time stretched out like a taut string of a violin. The evening was ruined, and with no evening elixir to fortify me, I was at my wit’s end.

Morbid thoughts followed in the wake of darkness. Soon, all my positive thinking changed rapidly to some disquiet and then to some dark thoughts. The situation was ripe for a disaster to strike.

Strange events.

The passenger door opened on its own and closed before I could protest about the rain pouring in. As I had not seen or heard anything, I suspected some sinister forces were at work. I groped in the dark but felt nothing. I checked to hear the breathing of any possible intruder but heard nothing, not even a whimper. Then I heard a voice that startled me.
“Hey, buddy, how you doing tonight?”
“Who the hell are you and where are you?”
“I am sitting next to you,” the voice said.
I stretched my hands and searched all around including the rear seats but felt nothing.
“You cannot feel or see me.”
“Why?”
“I am a ghost, you silly.”
“You got me really worried. How’re you tonight?”
“Pretty good, this weather and total darkness help me. Tell me one thing, aren’t you scared of ghosts?”
“I am an ancient mariner, and I had spent all my time at sea, not for nothing.”
“OK, I appreciate you’re not scared of ghosts. Aren’t you curious to know about me?”
“A ghost is a ghost is a ghost. I’m not bothered?”
“You should be, especially you.”
“Why, for God’s sake?”
“Because, I’m your ghost.”
“Don’t be silly. What do you take me for? You are a ghost, and that is it. I don’t care whose ghost you are, OK?”
“But dammit, I’m your own ghost. Believe me.”
“How can you be my ghost? You, out of your mind, are you? I’m hale and hearty, and you say you are my ghost. Go tell the Marines.”
“OK, you remember, for long, one part of your brain has been dysfunctional- dead?”
“Yeah, so what?”
“A person who is brain dead is declared dead and turns into a ghost. You have been half dead, and I am that half of you. You get it?”
“OK, I see your point. That makes it easy as I need not worry about you, and, on the contrary, I can order you left, right and centre.”
“You also have a point there. First let me congratulate you. You look pert and fit as a fiddle.”
“Thanks, but right now I’m in low spirits. My throat is parched. Why don’t you be a kindred spirit?”
Before I could say ghost, the ghost, the friendly ghost, my own ghost, produced a bottle of B/L and a glass.
“Hey how did you manage it so fast?”
“We, the ghosts have our own ways, you know,” he said
“Why, only one glass? What about you?”
“We’re not allowed to drink according to the rules of hell. A ghost is bad enough, but a ghost under the influence of drink can be terrible.”
“First, rule is unfair. Second, why did you go to hell?”
“Precisely, that is what I want to know from you. Had you not done some dark deeds, I wouldn’t have been a ghost but an angel having a good time in heaven. See I am stalking and scaring people, which is totally against the grain.”
“Why? I had never given a scare even to a child in all my life.”
“Now you stop asking me questions and answer my questions. What dark deeds have you done to put me in hell?”
“I don’t remember to have done anything of that sort. I’ve always been a gentleman and goody two shoes.”
“Take a couple of swigs, your residual brain may help you recollect.”
“Had I done anything wrong, you surely would have known. You were with me for long.”
“But I’ve been a ghost now for 40 years. So you must have done something when you were a young fellow.”
“Let me see, I was in Bombay at that time.”
“Did you have any connection with Bombay Dons, drug lords, gang wars and murders?”
“Don’t be stupid. How can you ask me such a silly question? You should know as you are half of me.”
“I might have been dysfunctional or in a coma. Did you knock up any girl?”
“Nope, the girls of Bombay were smart. They used to play around and allow a bit of hanky-panky but no going the whole hog.”
“OK I believe you. Did you ditch any girl badly?”
“I plead guilty. There were many to pick and choose from. Bombay was like a vast garden with beautiful flowers of myriad colors, sizes and shapes. I always had a good seaman’s eye and shifted target frequently.”
“You still chasing skirts?”
“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
“You evidently broke some hearts, and I am now paying for it. This life of a ghost is no joke you know. In hell, there is no drinking, no smoking and no nothing.”
“Not even smoking?”
“My life has been real hell, all because of you. Tonight I’m going to be a ghastly ghost and strangle you.”
“Come on, have a heart. You’re my own ghost. You don’t know, but I‘ve had hell many times. I am down and out myself. ”
“Sorry old chap. I am fed up of this life of a ghost. You better finish your drink. Let us settle an old score once and for all. Let the better man or ghost win.”
“Gotcha! If we two fight, what happens to my better half? She is our better half, since she is as much as yours as mine. We don’t want to cause her any avoidable trouble, do we?”
“How is she? I never met her.”
“She is all bark and bluster but kind and caring. She has been looking after me and suffering me for over forty-six years.”
“How does she look?”
“She is cute and still has some sheen on her. Why don’t you come home and meet her? She will be so happy to meet you.”
The pressure around my throat eased off, and I breathed freely.

Finale.

“I am dying to meet her. Let’s go. Start the car.”
“But the battery is dead.”
“Leave it to me. Start the car.”
By God, the car started!

Sometimes these Ghosts use the energy that is around that causes a lot of flickering. You are lucky your one drained the battery dead and not you as Energy drains can prove to be very deadly at times in the spirit world. They are called parasitic energy takers and it happens unknowingly.
None the less, these things happen when they want to tell you something about themselves because they find you the best person to discuss this with. They can block every energy source around till you hear them out. But be careful not all of them are good one and some replicate the good ones but you will know they are the replicated ones as they give out a cold vibe which means negative.
See a spiritual healer and see if the spirit has attached itself to you. It can happen at times because you gave it the permission to when it asked. Check your behavioural characteristics they are your warning signs.

Did this really happen? Regardless, it is a very cute story. A ghost with a sense of humor. I really enjoyed it.

I leave it to you to answer your question. As I mentioned earlier my mind wanders in weird ways, and I have no control. As long as you enjoyed the story, I have no problem with my mind.
