This poem is dedicated to my friend Lisa, who’s work will not end. She had dedicated her life to trying to end the stigma that surrounds mental illness.

To my Friend Lisa Who Tried So Hard to End The Stigma of Mental Illness

A powerful voice now is still,

Spoke bravely for the rights of the mentally ill.

She fought to end stigma and discrimination,

With her talents to educate through communication.

To dispel the myths about mental illness,

A champion for the cause told her audience.

That stereotypes about mental illness should not be believed,

From mis-information, the public has long been deceived.

A friend, always there to lend comfort,

Through the toughest times one experiences on this cruel Earth.

Always there by a friend’s side,

When fate tries to drown us in it’s ocean tide.

Farewell Lisa, farewell dear friend,

Your work here will not end.

We who love you will,

Take up your fight to help the mentally ill.
