The onset of the algorithm change ‘Google Panda Update” bought fears in the minds of online writers and publishers. However this update was a necessity for Google and good for writers and users too in the long run. The cream should be at the top and thats what google is trying to do.

Changing Approach to Online Writing

All most all major sites have been affected by Google Panda Update with views drastically getting down for low quality content. Whether it is Hubpages or Bukisa, Triond or Infobarrel, all of them have experienced the wrath of Panda.

Google specifically defines low quality contents as contents that are spammed, copied and the ones which doesn't impart value to online users. Content farms are the hardest hit by this algorithm change, however there are some good points about the Panda update too.

Thus the new age mantra for online writing is: Write for people and not for Search Engine

Google has been constantly screaming at the top of its voice to make writers/authors/publishers make aware of this fact, however, we have been more engaged in article promotions through backlinking, link exchange, blog commenting and more other ways to gain traffic. SEO people have really learnt the way of indexing their pages higher in Google searches.

However the whole notion of being index at page one in Google is “Your site must have value and must be relevant to the search queries.” Otherwise its totally useless to index a site at page one in Google.

Google updates The Panda regularly: The latest according to the date

Panda 2.4 on August 12th

Panda 2.3 on July 22nd or so

Panda 2.2 on June 18th or so

Panda 2.1 on May 9th or so

Panda 2.0 on April 11th or so

Panda 1.0 on Febrary 24th or so

Now, this will let the SEO parameters to get changed constantly, so the one that is best for today might not be the same for tomorrow (except quality content which becomes the priority). This will result in the stoppage of Blackhat SEO practices

As one of the top level Google Contributor puts it in this form:

You are left with only two options:

The first is to put all your energy, resource, time and brain to beat the “search algorithm” every time it is updated

The second is to create appealing content for your pages to let visitors stay for longer duration, hover through the website and bookmark it.

So, the good news is that “Content is King” which is also a popular saying will be realized in days to come. Anyone who can write an appealing content and gain the trust of the people will also gain the trust of the search engine.

This makes sense to me. A few days ago I was convinced SEO worked but actually some of my richer content gets the most views. I guess combining all of it together with good quality content is what we all, as good writers would want.
