A Day in the Life of the World

This is just four little poems for a Tuesday afternoon...Just faces in the crowd.

Number One...An Ebb Tide Dear

An Ebb Tide Dear

When life becomes absorbed,
Cold and bitter
And we begin to feel caged,
Like birds
In a colorless sky
That has come to blow
Our tender emotions away,
Our weakened hearts,
Lost in ozone waves
Changing daytime dreams
Into shades of grey
As we become drawn,
One by one
Into what we think
Another endless night
Because now we know
We cannot escape
This loss of touch,
The feel of light, or
The pull of moon.

Number Two...Down's Syndrome

Downs Syndrome

Remember that kid
Who was always picked last
When the teams were picked?
Well he kicked
A goal today
At my grandson’s soccer game
All though it be
For the other team,
But a goal just the same.
And everyone cheered his name…Even his teammates
Cheered him on!

Number Three...Faces of the Hero

Faces of the Hero

The hero has two faces,
One twisted into smile
And the other pushed away
From the light of day.
The hero’s faces are alive,
They are course and cunning
Fierce as a mad dog defending his bone,
And yet gentle as a cat
Bearing gifts for her master.
In the heroes eyes there is light
Shinning, like the stars in the sky.
The hero is a black man,
He is white as chalk,
He is a Native American who walks
with a limp, He is
A Mexican under his hat,
And an Oriental caught in a bad way.
The hero looks like you
And the hero looks like me too,
And she is beautiful.

Number Four...Why Bother

Why Bother

And then
There is the man
Who is struggling
Through another day
Just to get along
Who asks the worth
To carry on
Without the acclaim
Of Heaven's love?

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

Utah Jay, excellent writing as always. I must say you write with such passion. The words are like a stream of water on a spring day. Glistening in the shadows of the bright light. Blessings to you today and always.

Sometimes we get lost in a "why bother" funk. Moving on is why bothering is worth it.
