A Feast for Chichevache, Prologue

Kilburn, London
July 16, 1988

Dear Mr. A Stone,

I regret to inform you that your beloved father, Mr. T Stone, has expired.

The 'remains' of his body were found scattered around in a rented flat only last week. Hours before this tragedy occured, the tenants next door heard a strange, inhuman scream and informed the police the following morning - ater which, I was informed. The case is still under investigation.

On a personal note, your father was a dear friend of mine so I've taken the liberty of enclosing a parcel, he handed down to me for safe-keeping, several days before his demise. He appeared tense and afraid - mentioning that if anything should happen, then I must deliver it to you immediately. The parcel is marked 'Personal' and is for your attention only.

Should you require my help regarding legal matters over the farm your father owned, then please do not hesitate to contact me. (Keys enclosed.)

Yours sincerely,

N. Sutton

Solicitor
