With the arrival of spring each year, I look forward to nature's renewal of life. Watching the brown turn to green and the flowers and trees beginning to bud gives me new hope. I need my own renewal. The winter of my life has been far too long.

A New Beginning

Gone are the cold, damp, dark days
That seemed to chill my very spirit
Spring has arrived at long last
A symbol of life and hope renewed

Blue skies and warm sunny days
The promise held in each tiny bud
Of vibrant green and lush foliage
I am waiting for my turn to burst forth
To bring beauty to my surroundings
And bask in the brilliant mid-day sun

Baby birds chirp oh so merrily
From each and every tree top
Having finished a hearty meal
Provided lovingly by their mother
I, like them, wait none too patiently
To be fed with new inspiration

An air of expectancy abounds
What awaits me I do not know
But I am ready to embrace it
This is a new beginning
