Crazy I am so happy I secured a driver job. I am delivering some magazines, who knew how taxing this job can be? Pain ~ muscles in such pain!!
Patience is being tested ..... seriously!!!!

Monday ~ Pain ~ Patience

I am so happy I have secured a position, a Driver to deliver a couple of magazines to a couple of shopping centres. This is going to be so easy.

Oh dear, it’s Monday morning as I stand looking at this little pick-up filled to the brim with so many different magazines. I can feel my muscles tens just looking at the heaps of books. I really didn't realise this was going to be so taxing on my body.
I sit in the pick-up and turn the key in the ignitions to start the pick-up. I drive over to the first shopping centre. As I stand in front of the gates of the shop I need to deliver the magazines, the security guard comes along. “Hi, I am here to deliver some magazines.” He walks around the pick-up inspecting the contents of my pick-up. Coming over to the driver’s window he says “You go through and remember to bring the invoices to me for stamp.”

I drive through to the loading bay, my word look how high the wall is, how on earth am I going to get the books on that docking bay. I stop the pickup and start unpacking the books and stacking them on top of the wall. I feel the dark stares of all the black men watching me unload my pickup. The guys are all black men speaking in Zulu, Xhosa and I don’t know what they are saying about me. I feel a little apprehensive. We all standing in front of the cage to deliver our goods, first the milk, then the bread, oh no, no not the eggs. Yip, the eggs, and finally it’s me. I have been waiting in line since 07h00 this morning, its after 10h00 and I still have 3 other stores to deliver to.
The cage finally opens and I may enter, I start stacking the magazines on the floor, my back feels like it is breaking, I can hardly believe my life. I feel every muscle in my body, every movement I make take its toll on me. I finally have place all the stacks in place. I am behind the locked cage and waiting for the receiving clerks to come and count the magazines.

They come in and we start counting each bundle, finally I have all my magazines in the store. I am ushered out of the cage. Out of the yard walking towards the Staff entrance; in the store I walk over to the book shelves and take off our products. I walk to the office with my cart full of my books that need to be returned to the merchandiser. Now I wait, I have been here forever. My feet feel sweaty and I can feel the pain running up my legs. I am tired and I still need to get to the next shop. Time surely doesn’t make sense here. My time doesn’t mean much to the people around here. Oh, we will load the invoices now, just wait a bit. Grrr, my temper is high but I need to be kind and friendly.

Mark. Thank you, I am hoping that my pain is not in vain; I am trusting God to open a great opportunity for me. I am hoping I can see the lessons I need to learn. Patience and understanding and I hope to grow through this.

I remember standing in for the driver to deliver goods for what was supposed to be three weeks. He returned after three months and after a while it was challenging yet rewarding too.

I liked the break from being cooped up in the office! Lifting heavy goods left me drained though! siva

Wow! My back hurts right now just from me cleaning the kitchen up after dinner, so as I read this and put myelf in your sweaty shoes, I feel like I really do feel your pain. I know my back would have been on fire from the very start. And I am weak so I probably would have decided that is not the job for me. :-)
