I've been away from the platform, and I may not stay, but I wanted to share a couple of my writings from during my absence.

"The Shadow of Death" by Jerry E Smith, 1/11/16

In the story of Peter Pan, the boy Peter never got old, he was a
Boy forever, he also did not have a shadow. I had a brief bit of
Inspiration this morning, and wrote it down. Oddly, this bit
About Peter Pan only just now occurred to me. We were
Talking about aging. One of my friends said he had
Characterized aging as "mortality's shadow
growing ever larger on the existential wall."
I countered that perhaps age was like a
Shadow that is long when we are born,
Growing shorter each day, until we
Reach the apex of our physical
Existence, so that when you
Stand at the noon of your
Life; you have no shadow.
Life and death meet at that point, and
You pass from this world into whatever comes next.

"Joy Reflects" by Jerry E Smith, 1/10/16

All things are relative; what seems real can be just an illusion.
Such clichés do little to help us in the day-to-day of our lives.
What is real, is beauty, of the spirit, of love, friendship, the
Companionship one feels with certain like spirits, even if
You haven’t seen them in ages and ages. What is real is
The hand held out in love to help another. What is
Real is the joy you see in the eyes of another as
You give them something totally unexpected,
For which you expect nothing in return. Joy,
Is a real, tangible thing, and we have far
Too little of it in our world. Do every
Little thing you can to bring Joy to
Others; I think you will find that
Like a wave in a pond, once
The wave reaches the
Other side, it comes
Back to the start.
You will feel
Joy as well.
