Alone

An old man lives alone and has no one to talk to. He is sad and just wants to have a bit of company.

Watching People

I sat down on a bench in the city just watching people go on by,
It was a sunny day and I was lonely that’s the only reason why,
Most walked with friends laughing, talking, having a great day,
They just walked past, like I wasn’t there, didn’t look my way.

Getting Older

As you get older, all on your own there are things that you miss,
Like someone saying good morning, a smile, maybe a little kiss,
Someone to share some thoughts or maybe just a little old moan,
But that don’t happen anymore, not now, not when you’re alone.

In the Mornings

So in the mornings, when it’s time, I make myself a cup of tea,
I only make one, saves the washing up though, just one for me,
Sitting, looking out of my window, watching the world go by,
Gets me down a bit, get a lump in my throat, it makes me cry.

Get the Paper

Sometimes I go to get the paper I might see someone I know,
I stop and have a chat but I can see that they can’t wait to go,
Still it’s not their fault these days people just don’t have time.
I’ve got plenty, it’s just a pity I can’t give them some of mine.

I think loneliness is the scourge of the age Terry ...There are too many people sitting alone and feeling the world is passing them by ...A sad but true poem ..well deserving of the star my friend .

Whoa melancholy. I hope this is an idea, not you or a man you watched. I know there are people in this world who are alone. I tend to try to strike up conversations with them. Then they often wish they were alone and that I would leave. Then I am sad. But it's OK. Great job.

No it's not me just a poem. Everyone went out yesterday and I decided to stay home. I got bored and wondered what it would be like if it was like that all the time. Thanks for reading Phyl and I can't believe that anyone would want you to leave my dear fried.

Thanks Terry, what a touching snapshot of loneliness in old age. This is becoming common everywhere. In Asian societies, multi-generational families lived under one roof but becoming a rarity now. Young are into social net working leaving the old, well, cold! They see their friends leaving them but no new one to come by. Loneliness is really tough to endure - left high and dry in the final days; what a pity! siva

there's lot common between you and me///I
BUT I THINK OF THEM AND SAY

Well I have posted one this morning but my ones don't get moderated until late in the evening. Can't understand why? Post me a piece of that pie and I will have some custard with it.
