These are the visions of a writer, the thoughts we writers see within our minds, the colors of the way things were.

Along the Road

Along the Road

Somehow it comes,
perhaps a gift
from mother or father,
or the way my genes were mixed,
but still they come,
visions my heart sees
and feeling so much
that I can return
both in heart and mind
to anyplace
I have ever been,
and not only can I see it,
but I can reach out and touch it- - -Again and again.
I can feel the bitter cold
of a 1970 January
spent in Kalispell, Montana
and Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
I can see the white smooth cortex
of an old smooth aspen tree,
the very one I carved our initials in- - -Remember that?
And the warmth
of your supple summer skin
as you cuddled next to me
just like we were in heaven- - -Then,
I do hope that’s not a sin?

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.
