We learn prayers from parents and we use them for comfort and solace, prayer is the key that can open the doors for opportunity, we are healed through effective fervent prayers, we are saved through the prayer of faith.

Effective fervent prayer

Most of us eventually will die as a result of some form of illness, and sickness comes in many kinds of disguises, not just bed sickness or seasickness, but the whole human race is susceptible to sickness of one kind or another. People get sick on airplanes, trains, in amusement parks, on social nights out, suddenly or over a long period of time, illness can take the body whenever we least expect it to, when we think we are doing something great there is always a problem waiting just around the corner.

How sick is our world? It is twisted out of position and declining fast

Idolatry is a sophisticated form of sickness in our modern world, the pursuit of wealth has taken control of the heart, in ancient pagan world its was gold and silver, today its stock and shares, houses , property and bank accounts. The sickness of the world cannot be healed with just a prayer, it will take a lot more from individuals to put matters right. Therefore with an open mind God is the source of truth that we all need.

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32.

People even get sick in church while the preacher is preaching the word of God. Some people suffer with aggressive sickness others experience a more painful sedate form of illness where the pressure of dying was stronger than the will to live.
We are all susceptible to sickness without the ability to cure ourselves and we are all clothe with the inability to avoid sickness.

Therefore our dependence is on the Lord, to whom we owe our lives. We owe a debt to God that we cannot pay back with financial loans, because Jesus died for us, but it wasn't exactly our fault that the whole human race came under a curse, from the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, and we have ended up being just as guilty as our fore parents.

God allows us to conduct our lives with devotion and sacrifices to him, we simply cannot get away from the fact that we owe our lives to God. What we dos is rooted in the ambivalence about our parents. It is pretty obvious who we are, we are unworthy servants.

The servant waits on the master. The master does not wait on the servant. Furthermore, the master does not thank the servant for doing his work. Luke 17:7
We are to have a high view of Jesus that makes no comparison with ourselves, for none of us could have done the things that he did, each day as we live and breathe, and go about our daily task, Jesus causes us to see ourselves as merely servants doing our duty.

Pray for healing each day, just as how you would pray for the forgiveness of sins.
People try every kind of medical help to aid recovery, some medication will work for w short while and prolong life but eventually we all will die. Prayer is a tool that could aid physical recovery, and give individuals another chance to make something good out of their lives.
We see a lot of miraculous healing during the ministry of Jesus Christ, which was carried forward by the apostles in later years.

Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
James 5:8-13

Prevailing prayer

Just as the day was breaking, the Angel of the Covenant said: "Let me go"; and Jacob's whole being was, as it were, agonized at the thought of giving up, and he cried out: "I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me."
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. Genesis 32:26-29

Prayer is communication with God
Zechariah 13:9
I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure, just as gold and silver are refined and purified by fire. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'These are my people,' and they will say, 'The LORD is our God.'
Prayer is the tool that makes us stronger
Pray regular and you will become a victorious person
The modern world is full of the old Christian virtues gone mad. The virtues have gone mad because they have been isolated from each other and are wandering alone. G K Chesterton
But that part of our conversation in which the Lord is celebrated is situated in our prayer
What is needed when praying for the sick?
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15
