Groups combating the epidemic in this East African country challenged to work extra hard and have it contained

Efforts

The chairman of the Constituency Aids Control Council (CACC) in Kesses constituency of the expansive Kenyan Uasin Gishu county Richard K.Chemoto, has sounded an impassioned plea to anti-Aids groups in the area to mount concerted efforts in the fight against the pandemic which has in the past consumed the lives of Kenyans immeasurably.

Addressing the media, Mr Chemoto particularly exhorted the groups combating the disease in Kesses constituency to leave nothing to chance in mounting a full-scale war against the dreaded pandemic to contain it once and for all.

However, Mr Chemoto noted with appreciation that Aids cases in the constituency had dwindled impressively in the last few months, owing to an integrated approach between the anti-Aids groups, local leaders, administrators, coupled with notable behavior change amongst the local people.

The official cited the most active Aids groups in the constituency as Tigoi, Wee and the Taretgei women groups which, he said, had become a shining example for ably volunteering to fight the malady.

Awareness

The groups, he contended, had also created awareness among local residents on the dangers inherent in the disease which had threatened to decimate mankind in several continents of the world.

"I note with appreciation that Aids cases in Kesses have scaled down from 5 to 1.2 percent which is a great encouragement to me and my team and other health experts in the constituency", Mr Chemoto asserted.

"I urge the anti-Aids groups to maintain the same commitment in stemming the scourge as it is detrimental to economic growth anywhere in the world", Mr Chemoto stressed.

He also appealed to both the county and national governments to offer maximum support to the groups which had declared war against Aids in the constituency saying he looked forward to a time when the disease would be exterminated completely.

Diligent parliamentarian

At the same time, Mr Chemoto enthusiastically lauded the area Member of Parliament Hon James Bett for his vision and diligence in serving the local populace.

He also hailed Senator of the Uasin Gishu county Isaac Melly for his devotion in hammering out realistic strategies of accelerating the tempo of development in the county for the benefit of the locals.

"I particularly laud Hon Bett for evenly distributing the constituency development funds to all primary and secondary schools in Kesses constituency to the utter satisfaction of local inhabitants", said Mr Chemoto.

The chairman noted that Hon Bett had given sh 10,000 bursaries to secondary school students and sh 20,000 bursaries to college students in the constituency which was a noble and inspiring move.

"Hon Bett has also assured the local people that he would soon ensure that electricity was routed to 42 primary schools. The Mp has also provided ambulances to health centers and has been going round the entire constituency spreading a message of hope, peace and unity", Mr Chemoto averred.

Seeds of discord

He cautioned those aspiring for political positions in the constituency against sowing seeds of discord and engaging in premature campaigns since Hon Bett was firmly on the saddle.

'They should give Hon Bett space and time to serve his constituents effectively without interference. Engaging in premature campaigns when elections are still far off is totally unnecessary and uncalled-for, and is tantamount to putting the cart before the horse", an assertive Mr Chemoto concluded.
