Arcing Out

I have only known a brave few who went through recovery alone, I just haven't that high of an opinion of self to commit to something so painful as recovery. No it took more than just will power alone for me, it took love and the support of a caring family. It’s not like you can just put it away in a drawer somewhere and forget about it, like an old book. It will never let you do that. It’s like a spider on a string.

Arcing Out

Arcing Out

I am living on the bend now,
on the slow arc of stars
swinging within
my sense of habit,
my sense of gravity.

The High Wire

I am living on the bare thread now
on the high wire of life,
living, but confused,
like the itty- bitty-spider
who is swinging before me.
Hanging on her string
eyeing some giant,
like me
and wondering…Should I go up,
or should I go down,
or should I simply swing
here on my string
hoping this giant doesn’t notice me,
she thinks to herself

Close then Far

Close…Then far…Then close again,
her seven shinny black eyes green-sick
with movement
and yet,
still receptive to me,
thinking she cannot out climb
the clap of my hands,
like I think
I cannot out climb
my spoon and needle…And both of us knowing
that there is absolutely nothing
we can do about it.

For Warmth or Love

Meanwhile
out in forest green
a dying wolf bites at his wound,
howling at silver moon,
for he knows nothing more to do
in his wildness,
he has no place left in his heart
for warmth or love
shunned from his pack in his weakness.

Buried

Buried deep
within busy city streets
a young man stumbles
with his pin-prick-needle
as he stabs at his wound,
nodding in his pain’s relief
he falls into darkened dreams
for he knows nothing more to do
in his wildness,
there is no place left
within his hallowed heart
for love, or warmth, or prayer
shunned from his pack
in his weakness.

Love is Enough

Home alone,
lost within frozen thoughts
a young woman weeps from her wounds,
but finds no sure cure for her pain,
she knows only one thing more to do
and with her heart filled to her limit
she falls upon her bending knees
lifting herself above the fray
for just this one more minute,
this one more day
ticking away,
for she knows nothing more to do
loved by her pack.
And on this day,
on this cold and painful day
Love
is enough.

Is love enough? Or is there something more to say? Say it on wikinut and get paid.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

Thanks Carolina, but it has been done, a work in progress...This is just a page from my up-coming book on addiction and recovery...Don't worry, I have an editor for spelling...Thank you so much for reading.

Thank you Fern, for you too are one of a kind. Your kind words make me smile and I try so hard not to do that.

We can be shunned by most anyone but if we also shun ourselves we block out the sun that's always shining.

Reach into that sun Utah Jay, and you fill find it lives within you then too, as I am sure you know already.

Moving poetry that I also deeply relate too.
