Are Traditions and Routines Hindering Us?

I believe that we often get too complacent in our old routines and miss out on exciting new possibilities.

Can't Break Free

If you want something you’ve never had, you must do something you’ve never done.

Firmly fastened, tethered and chained
To the past, our old routine
Clinging to what is comfortable
And all too familiar
How will we know the possibilities
That await us outside our
Self-imposed cells
Beyond our front door
If we won’t step out
Afraid to fail, thus
Afraid to try
Imprisoned by tradition
Nothing new to risk or venture
Holding tightly to the old ways
Silly enough to think
Something new will result

Taking that first step to change can indeed open up so many varied possibilities.. As always ashan, your poetic verse captures it so well..

Tradition keeps you grateful of what you have learned through the years. Change allows you to create your own tradition, taking some of what you grew up with, and making it even better.
