As The Old Year Fades From View

As We leave the past behind and step into the New Year - what do we take into the future with us ?

A New Year - A New Beginning

A New beginning - as the old year fades from view
New promises to keep - or break - as proves so often true .
A wresting from the grip of days now gone - that hold
Our hearts with memories - and longings - still to be
Fulfilled - as yet undone .
We cannot turn the clock back for one second - to walk
Through vistas past - how ever good or bad the view -
But we can borrow from their store - in
Musings that can bring a smile - or frown - depending on
The shadows formed - through Yester's door.
How many things would we have changed - if hindsight
Were the gift of time - preceding the event - instead of
Looking back ?
But - no regret - we must move on - as time holds back
For no man - nor shows respect - for rich or poor .

But - we must ask ourselves - " Are we a better one -
For all we've said - or done "? - or will we strive to go
The extra mile - and give above our due - with generous and
Forgiving hearts - in days to come ?
And so - In briefly looking back - I pray that only good is what
We'll glean - and carry forward with us - in -
This New Year - of our Lord -
Two thousand - and - thirteen .

God bless all in Wikinuts 2013.
