Ashtray Memories

This is that hallow place in our loneliness where memories come calling and we go tumbling into dreams of our own.

Ashtray Memories

Ashtray Memories

I once had dreams
of you,
hot visions unfolding
on twilights edge,
but now I sit alone,
within the vacant spots,
the dark parking lots
and whiskey drops,
no more
than a cigarette
worth of thought

to foul the evening air with.

The Empty Blue Evening

This is my
blue night, my
silent communion
spent between my own needful dreams
and myself…Spilled into
in the empty blue evening
where other eyes
cannot see

what was
and what was not.

In Times of Weakness

alone again
in this sterol white room
I notice the emptiness
on the overhead speaker,
the emptiness
that comes’ calling
in times of weakness
when life has left us
to the frailties
of our own needs,
our own drained thoughts
quietly crumbling.

That Hallow Place

is that hallow place
within the cure,
that empty place
that shines a little colder,
and crawls a little deeper
under our skin
until we begin
to find a certain comfort
in the light
and in the shadows,
like a disease
that crawls
into a weakened body
starved of any Godly nourishment.

Where We Become Lost

And it is here
at long last
where we become lost
within the emptiness
of another four A.M. room,
white, sterile, and cast off,
left to our own devices
(you and I)
to our own want-full needs
before we learn
that it is finished
within us
who must
bear up
this wooden cross
- - -
Slivers and all.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

When our thoughts are all drained away, we certainly do feel lost in our rock.

I have no answers for you, my answers are cold ones too.

Out of the ashes comes your writing though, be warmed up a little bit by that Utah Jay, we your readers certainly are.

Utah jay, great writing. I could feel emotion in these words. I absolutely loved the picture titled "Cold As Winter Calling"

Thanks Nancy. The picture was taken just outside my front door last winter, just goes to show that beauty is where you find it, glad you liked it.
