August Morning...Touched by History

I like to garden at dawn. It is the coolest part of a long hot summer day. In the early morning stillness there is sense of temporal aloneness and closeness to nature. It is my time to mull things over and connect with what is truly the essence of life...

Fruits of Summer

It is August once again,
Vines cascade
Over a tattered garden gate.
In the early morning haze,
Ripening berries wait...

Temporal Stillness

Yet on this early August morning
You find me working in my garden.
In the company of my cultivated flowers,
I enjoy the temporal stillness that surrounds me...

I have lingered long at the forest edge.

Where Leaves Stir

Here in verdant shadows where history lies...
Mist walks like the silence
Of moccasins upon moss across my lawn-
Then quickly dissipates
Into the rising August sun.

As morning awakens...
A gentle summer breeze
Whispers a ballad of the trees.

In the shade beneath these pines,
I feel the depth of time.

One must be comfortable in the stillness of oneself before being comfortable in the temporal stillness that surrounds us on those glorious mornings. Your verse is beautiful with personal and natural imagery.

Have a great time, lovely poem too -- quickly dissipates into the rising August sun -- makes me wonder is it our emotions or is it urgency of time that makes us hurry along.
Lovely drizzle, I love it, we had our rains about one month ago, though it does "sprinkle a bit" now and then.

I certainly identify with the feelings you expressed, although I have my special gardening times just before dusk, in the late afternoon. I write too far into the night to greet the dawn.

Gold stars grace almost all of your work. No surprise there. This particular poem hits home with the vibrant photos of flowers that remind me of spring and my garden. Beautiful.

Forgotten memories

ere we part
friendship
is an everlasting memory
sweet fragrance it brings
of days gone by

we all think
we are invaluable,
nay, indispensable
the world will end without us
but
the fairest news of all is this
we are only a one night's bliss
on mommy earth ‘tis
.so let’s give each other
a parting kiss
so this now

read this again
Ere!

Hello LOVERME... Thanks for stopping by to visit my page! It let's me share this very apt quote from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow...
"So come to the Poet his songs, All hitherward blown
From misty realm,
That belongs to the vast Unknown. "
quote is from Longfellow's "Poem Ultima Thule
"The Poet and His Songs"
And perhaps the best answer to your kind comment question...
Shine on poet LOVERME...! :0)

Hello again LOVERME.. truly poetry is the music of literature- and it has so many varied (very creative) forms-such a vast word symphony! - This vague category poetry, what this means to me, is humanity's song of soul and heart... All equally part of this unmeasurable thing we try so very hard to capture-time...

After a night's rest, plants let out their love and ardence in the morning. Those who go near them and touch them the earliest, get the most. So it is better anyway to do a little gardening in the early morning.

Hello again LOVERME , please fear not the bell that tolls - I must share with you these timeless uplifting wisdom filled lines of Longfellow's--"Art is long and time is fleeting" .It is a quote from "A Psalm of Life" here are my favorite from that same said poem -
Longfellow's famous lines " Life is real!
Life is earnest!
And the grave is not it's goal-
Dust though art to dust returns was not spoken of the soul!

Hello LOVERME, yes poetry is a proud and important part of all our history, and my hope has always been, that poetry remains, a living part of literature! I am sadden to see that the category of poetry here on Wikinut does not list the most recent poems, the newly published daily poems, FIRST in that proud category of poetry itself. Many thanks indeed poet LOVERME, for visiting my page.

What I had hope to emphasize in my comment above LOVERME is-in the (sub-category) of- "Poetry" you cannot find the most recently published poems there anymore- instead, the same poems have been frozen in place, for now, it has been well over 3 years!

Hello LOVERME, yes my poetry is here, and so then- (I am always watching over it,) and -of coarse reading others works! If Wiki does get someone to regulate, and control the site, and then opens it for publishing again, it would be a very good thing (-if so) it will be interesting to see if poetry will again be a category of it's own here on Wiki,) as you LOVERME have remained and highlighted the value of poetry singlehandedly to the site...
I appreciate the rose of your comments, you have always been generous to spotlight so very many of your fellow poets...thanks LOVERME ...!
