Behind Our Walls

Words, we pile them on top of each other day after day, hoping by chance they won't come tumbling down on the page and bruise our thumb and fore-finger. So we secure them with dots, and dashes, and happy faces, just in case.

On the Other Side

On the Other Side

We sit in our houses
And apartments
Smiling big smiles
Surrounded with our children
Our family and friends
Eating our Sunday dinner
Watching the moments
Slowly pass by
Filled to the brim
With conversation
And laughter

In the Silence

Each passing sound
Slightly muffled
Behind four inches
Of plywood
And a fresh coat
Of Sherman-Williams
Pastel paint

Behind the Door

We have dead bolts
On each
Of our doors
And double locks
On all our windows
As we sit here
In the cool quiet
Of another
Dying day

We are safe.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

Awesome. I too am in the silence of the night, writing and reading as I feel a breeze. It isn't too cool yet, but it will in due time it will, but meanwhile, I enjoy this moment this late at night.

Lady you are just like my Sister. She had three dead bolts and the knob lock. No one could get in the day she passed, so I simply removed the door window, reached in and unlocked the locks...There is always a way in. Locks just keep the honest, honest.

I see that I am different than you. I love the very early morning hours to write. I'm an early to bed and early to rise person. Smiles!
