Behind the Veil

Have you ever wondered if we are waiting for a huge curtain to lift and the truth of life will appear? This poem questions our ideals.

Behind the Veil

What lies behind the doors
That perception opens
And shuts in your mind?
Feeling thoughts, ideas
Rushing in and out,
Leave you looking behind.
The pride within us
Does quench despair
For not seeking the
Innermost desire,
Fleeting romance
With the hand of God.

Afterglow lifts the veil
That secretly hides what
We yearn for most,
What we long for inside
Our heart of hearts.
Yes, we dream of glory
To dominate our ego,
Yet this path is filled
With brush and thorns,
We stand beside caskets
As a lost spirit mourns.

Moments forgotten
Reappear to remind us
That life is an illusion
As memories drift away
In confusion.
