This is a spiritual poem that describes a dream I had one night. I woke in the morning and wrote it without changing a word.

Behold the Forgiven

Sailor washed ashore, bleeding,
Spear in his side, he's breathing,
Crawls inch by inch to safety,
Away from the ocean's tide,
Praying for a miracle to save
What little is left of his hide.

He sees the blood of the Lamb,
He tastes the blood of the Lamb,
He feels the blood of the Lamb,
He needs the blood of the Lamb.

resting under an olden tree,
He pulls the spear from his wound,
Takes his shirt and stuffs it there,
Hoping he will recover soon,
His destiny is not forgotten,
Comes the light of the moon.

He knows the blood of the Lamb,
He senses the blood of the Lamb,
He samples the blood of the Lamb,
He seeks the blood of the Lamb.

Darkness soon upon his face,
His mind drifts back to yesterday,
When all was right ans sailing,
He falls asleep while seeming
To understand his dismay,
Now he is barely dreaming.

He wants the blood of the Lamb,
He cries for the blood of the Lamb,
He deserves the blood of the Lamb,
He begs for the blood of the Lamb.

Morning breaks with heavy fog,
He is surprised he is alive,
He thinks he dreamed an angel,
His wound is healed, no scar,
Angel came to save his soul,
His last memory was a shining star.

He asked for the blood of the Lamb,
He pleaded for the blood of the Lamb,
He felt the blood of the Lamb,
He received the blood of the Lamb.
