Best Practices in Blogging on Internet Today

Blogging is so modern and yet it is merely diary keeping. Internet has opened out the limits of society to include almost everyone within the personal regimes in society. So, what is blogging and who are these bloggers? Do they have some set pattern in their blogging and what figures do the internet bloggers return? Come let us see blogging practices and the numbers.

Do not let the blog die

The blog that is not updated at least once a month dies. Make sure you put the pen to the ink once in every 10 days to keep in touch over the internet with the readers and connect with their blogs too. One good practice in blogging is to write new content every day.

Keep the content valuable

Nobody wants to read the same lame content day after day. If they do, they really care for you and your blog and its content. However, make an effort to change the topic once every two or three days. This will keep the content fresh, make the content vibrant, the readers interested and the search engines happy. The search engines? Yes, the search engines – they are the heart and soul of the internet. They do what no one else can or will do – run the entire machinery in the ether and provide the new society of today with the support needed to carry on as if nothing has happened since yesterday.
Search engines like to obtain new content. It has a specific algorithm built into the mechanism that rejects material that is not written today and now! Why? Because readers want to read new things not the old stuff. So, if you write the same stuff again today, the search engines will pick that up first. Talk about content and blogging practices! It does matter that the content should not be repeated word for word and so the blogger, that is you, have to make the changes needed to show that the content is new. And remember, you are not convincing your reader…only the search engines.

Use keywords to attract the search engines

Keywords are like tonic for the search engines. It relishes these because it simplifies the searching process. Imagine you are searching for a pair of red slippers (not Cinderella – she lost one slipper at the ball, Red Riding Hood probably – though I do not know how she came to lose it) and you have a pair of goggles that highlighted every red object in the room! It would help you trace the slippers within seconds. That is what the keywords do for the search engines.

Use titles and subtitles

The ideas within the content have to be broken down – made into small delicious pieces like mutton, potatoes, vegetables and spices – and then mixed up in one bowl you call the article or blog. Say you are writing an adventure story. You want to keep the romance separate, the chase after the villain or missing object separate and the idyllic conversations, the discussions and planning separate. The blogging practice of using titles and subtitles while writing content helps you develop an insight into the story. Ram had the ball – Ram goes into the forest with Laxman – He forgets Sita – Ravana goes for Sita – the story becomes intense and exciting.
More often than not, introduction of a new character adds spice to the story. If you add some element like missing jewel, impending examinations or unexpected social events – cast out of society, unmasks some plot, etc., the character becomes the fulcrum. The titles now center on him or her.

Statistics about blogging on the internet

According to, the total number of internet bloggers in the United States totaled 30.75 million of which only 8% are able to support a family with their blogging. More than 80.5% never make more than $100 from blogging. Compare this with the £2.50 Wikinuters make over a couple of months of blogging! There sure is a vast difference in the blogging practice and the kind of internet revenue. It sure is a good feeling blogging at Wikinut.
One more statistic about internet bloggers and internet blogging practices: About 1.95% of them blog at special sites that pay heavily and make $123 thousand+ per year with just one to two hours of blogging. And the name of these sites? Ah! I am not going to tell you, simply because I do not know them! If anyone has an idea about such sites you can email me (alone – that is a good blogging practice) with the information. And about 9% to 10% of the internet bloggers earn a decent amount spending about 4 – 5 hours blogging every day.

Blogs used

Maximum utilized blog is Wordpress followed by Blogger. About 42.7% use the former while 34.5% use the latter. Around 6.2% of the remaining bloggers migrate here and there while the rest use Posterus, TypePad, Tumblr and similar blogging platforms. More than half the bloggers amounting to 56.7% had more than one blog. It has 42,080,000 blogs which received more than 24 billion page views every month. 400,000 comments are posted every day and that is just Wordpress alone.
Over 60% of all internet businesses have a blog and they update it once a month (The statistics show that at least 34.5% of them update it). Various concerns like Mashable, and Dow Jones, Time and TechCrunch among others got 529,000,000 page views every month.

Be sure to share your blogs online

Money is the name of the game. More page views over the internet mean more money both for the blogger and the blogging company that is hosting your blog. Increase your visitors and you are home. But more importantly, keep the blog lively and interesting. This internet blogging practice will help significantly. Use social media interactive tools and devices like Twitter and Facebook to maximize exposure for your blogs.

Exactly Nancy. I wonder where the rest of them flew away! Actually, beginning a blog is like giving birth to a child. You have to look at many things and keep the blog fed and answer all the mail (clothing) which is difficult work. That is why many blogs fail.
Thanks for stopping by Nancy.
