The story I read long back and trying to follow maximum....it's very interesting.....(I have uploaded a picture from the net)

Buddha and his disciple

This is an incident when Gowtham Buddha was teaching his disciples. He never used to bother about surroundings as he use to concentrate only in teaching. He never even counted the heads or paid attention in their dressing. He spread the message of love. He taught not to hate anybody as well as never to hurt any living beings. He has followers and believers throughout the world. His religion is called as Buddhism and his followers as buddhists.

How I was influenced....

In school , we had a section about religions and from then I had a special interest and attraction towards Buddha. I developed interest, I bought books and read, luckily had a Buddhist friend too. She gave a book of short stories which I have misplaced somewhere and only thing I remember clearly is this classroom incident.

Now the story.....

Towards the end of dusk, Buddha was teaching his disciples. He was immersed in teaching. After the class, one disciple was waiting to have a word with Buddha. Buddha asked, " what do you want , my child?" For which the disciple opened his mouth very hesitantly and told, " Guru, I need a new shawl to cover myself ". Then Buddha looked at him and was ashamed that he did not pay attention for such things but decided to get him the same as soon as possible. Before that he wanted to know certain things and wanted to make him understand the value of money.

Question and answers...

Buddha asked him, " what did you do with the previous shawl? " " I am using it as bedspread" came the answer. " And the before one? " " I stitched pillow covers with that" replied the disciple. " what did you do with the one I gave even before that?" " That is being used as floor cleaners because it was torn into pieces". Finally Buddha asked , " What happened to the very first shawl my child?" for which the disciple said , " I am using it as kitchen vessel rags" . Buddha was really spellbound and convinced. There was no need of teaching him further. The very next day the disciple was glowing in his new shawl which made Buddha very happy.

God share, Rajani. That is the way religions and beliefs should touch the basics of our living than talk about afterlife while forgetting the daily injustices - siva
