Can an abusive man change?

He beat her like she was a Steel Pan but instead of music blood...and her cries...but still he kicked and cuffed...she survived for her children's sake and defeated masculinism.

Woman of Substance

She adhered to her children’s wishes
And went back to pounding phallus.
Nightly…daily….the phallus pounding…pounding…pounding,
Not caring for her but for his pleasure only… just pounding…pounding…pounding,
Pounding down on her and her stomach in pain…
Her stomach growing and nine months later
Cries of a baby and sleepless nights.
Ungrateful Leo and his companions Obscenity, ‘Back-hand Slap’
and ‘Puncheon Breathe’
treated her like their pinata,
but instead of sweets falling her blood runs
while villagers molded by essentialism
cheered on, “That is what woman wants!”
“Women don’t like a soft man!”

She glanced at him again and again to see if she would see a kind man
But all she saw was him pounding…pounding….pounding;
The children crying…and looking…mummy bruised and in pain,
As the crude man continued pounding…pounding…pounding,
Like he was rehearsing on the steel-pans for the panorama competition,
but instead of sweet music were cries and tears
With the entire village becoming jubilant spectators cheering Leo on,
And some becoming judges comparing him to the likes of Exodus and
Winston Spree himself;
But Winston Spree was a kind and innovative man
who brought joy to the land through the sound of music
With his great invention the steel-pan.

Leo was not like Spree since he would beat upon her night and day,
His hands at day and the phallus at night
When he drank the blue pill
For his pleasure not hers!
She silently cried, “When would the kids grow up,”
And wished she could sail to somewhere in the universe
Become a superhero to prevent other women from
Falling in the same pit as her…
But meanwhile she had to outlive the pounding…pounding…pounding;
The drunken master had a black belt in this art
As he displayed his skills like Bruce Lee
And was supported by people who misused
The Holy Bible to manipulate…and to postulate…
Submit…Submit…Submit… for better or for worst.

But there was no better but worst since she had no rights
But his rights to do her as he pleased…To breed her like 'breeders'
The chicken on a farm reared for breeding,
Ensuring that the farmer maintain his power
Through heirs passed on along his line,
And the 'breeder' forgotten
Not even her name would be mentioned or passed on
Since the children bared his name…
Like she did not go through nine month of pain
And years of pounding…pounding…pounding

But when the last child got his identification card
The woman of substance rebelled against phallic idealism,
She round house kicked the black belt Marshall Artist down to the ground
With her independence and an education;
A business woman now and all her children doing well
She rose up and against essentialism.
Still fighting hard to this day she is one of a kind
Striving hard rid MAN-kind
And instead replace it with HUMAN- kind
With equity, equality and respect for ALL-kind.
The woman of substance lives on
In all the women and girls who stands up and walks away from abuse
Inequality and gender disparity
The woman of substance will never die…she will live on… and on…and on.
