On Friday I did an author signing in a coffee shop, but not just an ordinary coffee shop. Read on to find out more about it.

Carol's Blog about Congo Coffee Shop

I have widened my social circle considerably since I joined Facebook. Just over a year ago, I was at a craft fair in Folkestone when a lady called Karen came over to introduce herself. We then linked up on Facebook, and since then have followed each other's posts.

Recently she invited me to do a book signing at CONGO COFFEE SHOP. My latest book, entitled THE POWER OF LOVE, had just been published, so it was a great opportunity to promote it. Usually I do signings in libraries, or at Craft Fair events, but the idea of a coffee shop and meeting place really appealed to me.

We arrived

Congo Coffee is up a narrow little street, full of quaintness and character, amongst other shops, an interesting street to have a wander, and take in different shops and experiences.

As soon as we entered the shop, I was struck by the warmth and friendliness of the proprietor, Marianne. Although only a small shop, nothing is too much trouble, it is like stepping into your own front room, as it contains tables and chairs as well as arm chairs. When you go to the counter to order, laid out in the very front are delicious home made sausage rolls and pastries, making your mouth water.

As if that wasn't enough, she makes the most delicious home made cakes. And to celebrate the launch of my new book, Marianne had made a beautiful moist pink cake with white icing, inscribed on the top was THE POWER OF LOVE, and my name, Carol M Creasey. Of course we couldn't resist sampling it, and I can thoroughly recommend Marianne's cake making skills.

Selling my books

I was given a table in the window to display my books, and I sat there watching the people going past. It was the night of the Christmas Lights switch on, so it was busy, and then it was rounded off with a firework display down at the harbour.

People came in to chat to me and buy my books, and one customer explained to me how she teaches children with autism. Another German lady said she had moved to Folkestone, and would never want to return to Germany now.

The evening was a lot of fun, and for me, was over too quickly. I would like to say a big thank you to Karen for inviting me to sell my books at CONGO, and to Marianne and her helpers for feeding us and making us feel so welcome. We also had soup, so if you are in Folkestone on a cold winter's evening, you know where to go for a warm welcome, and great food.
My thanks to Karen for the images, and Youtube for the video

I have been looking forward to some publisher to publish my poems ...
so many have been loved by so many
but no publisher does care for me ..
sad is the world today publishers only want money and
..when poets are gone with the wind
..then only PUBLISHERS make all the dough
..great guys they all are though
.. is there any one Ma'am you know
..poetry PUB only for Loverme.
