Celebrate the best days of your life and recount your blessings

A Celebration of LIFE

Natal day or birthday is one of the most celebrated day in one’s life, probably more important than any holidays or official events in the country. Birthday as defined by Wikipedia “is an occasion when a person or institution celebrates the anniversary of their birth”. I put is simply as A CELEBRATION OF LIFE.

Today I am celebrating my 27th birthday and I still feel the same level of joy and the excitement every time I open some presents way back in childhood. One of the notable experience during this day is the overflowing of love and support from family, friends, colleagues, previous classmates, relatives, and acquaintances. Though sometimes it felt a little awkward, I am grateful for the one day spotlight given those people who valued me.

Birthday is the feast of life. When we are born, we carry with us a purpose which is meant to be served during our life time and beyond. Our mother has also placed her life for us to be brought into this world. Along with our father, they work hard for us to live and become the person we are now.

Natal day is not only a celebration of another year added on our count but a glaring reminder of a gift we are given—our life. Many would have wished to have another day but they were not given such chance. There are dying patients on hospital wards and rooms who wished they will be given a miracle and prolong their life. There are soldiers, policemen and guardians who are fighting for their lives as they save others who wish they will get the chance to see their family after a mission. Life is truly is a gift to be celebrated.

More than the birthday cakes, balloons, party hats, birthday presents, and treats, we should remember to send our thanksgiving to the Creator for giving us another year to life a wonderful existence. Another year given is an opportunity to live and experience the best this world has to offer. As the cliché goes “it is not in our age that matters, but the life we have lived during those days”.

To those who are celebrating their birthdays, my happy birthday to all of you! May you continue to live a life of purpose and contribute to the good of humanity.

We need the reminding all the time that life is a blessing. I quote Abraham Lincoln "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - siva
