A story that could only be told by Mark. Through his story we get a glimpse of who this man is, his likes and dislikes and where his roots began. He briefly touches on his big car accident in 1972 which took the life of his 15 year old brother and it nearly ended his life as well. Two years later, still suffering from internal body injuries from the accident, we met. Now for the rest of the story...

He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22

My grandparents on my father's side lived in Massachusetts. We would visit them often as I grew up. I met my grandmother on my mother's side, but my grandfather had died long before I was born. We'd visit with her occasionally. I had two brothers and one sister. My sister was the oldest of the children; I was the middle of the sons. My older brother and I did not get along well and my sister was too old to relate with me. I spent most of my time with my little brother, Peter.
My father brought us to the Catholic Church when we were growing up. I remember sitting in the church service and thinking, “That's the truth... that's not.” My mom would stay home and make dinner for us. I thoroughly enjoyed those meals!
The summer after I graduated from high school I was involved in a car accident. I don't remember the accident or what led up to it. I was hospitalized with head and internal injuries. My younger brother, Peter, was killed.
Having a great interest in flying, I got into building model airplanes. I met a guy through the local hobby shop who was also a model airplane builder. Several of us would get together at my friend's house and work on our airplanes. That's where I met Rick. One day Rick's car was hit broadside by a driver who ran through an intersection. His car was wrecked, but he was not. Being now car-less, he asked if I could give him a ride to a local Bible study. I was glad to do so. He was surprised when I joined him in the study.
I met Nancy there. I said, “Hi! Want to get married?” She agreed to the proposition. Silly girl! She introduced me to Bible study guides and we would study together. I was baptized August 31st 1974 and married on Sunday September 1st 1974. There is a lot more to my story, but this is Nancy's book.

Yes after the death of a sibling in a tragic event some memory loss is common I suppose.

Oh yes, Mark, he doesn't remember hardly anything about it. He has blocked that part of his life out. Very sad. Not coping with it was easier for him, but that was when he was 17 and now he is 60. He has functioned very well and all of his internal injuries seemed to heal very quickly after we married, like the first year. We have been married for 40 years and he still seems to be very happy. :)
