Decisions, decisions, decisions! Oh! So many decisions to make! Not only for Mark and I, but the kids too. Would we make the right choices? Will we listen to God's still small voice, and be lead in the right directions, following the right paths? Will this end up being the best year ever, or could it be the biggest mistake!

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8

Toward the end of Andrew's twelfth grade year, he and Sandy got ready to go on a mission trip. They were all excited about it, and they were going to make this the best one ever! After they came home they graduated and began thinking about college. They both applied to Southern Adventist University in Tennessee, where Tim was for his last year. It seemed to us God was leading them there. They were both accepted.
Now Mark and I had a decision to make! He had been laid off from his job around the same time. Again, we found ourselves on our knees, asking for guidance. After much prayer, it seemed right to live near the college, and be there for Andrew's first year and Tim's graduation. I loved that idea, and Mark also loved the idea of leaving Maine and going south where it was much warmer! He always hated the cold weather, and now here was his opportunity. We had nothing to hold us, and we felt God's leading in a big way.
We packed our stuff and closed up the house and left for Tennessee! Some friends there invited us to come and stay with them. Then Tim found us a house to rent close to the college. It was a nice little house, and suited all our needs perfectly. Tim, Andrew, Mark and I moved in, and the kids started their school year. Aaron and Sara came to stay for a brief visit. What a blessing to be all together again.
We also added a new member to the family. Tim brought home a puppy! She was adorable and he called her Zoë. She was into everything! Tim still has her, and his family just loves her.
The year was going great for the boys. Sandy lived in the girl’s dorm, but she would come over and stay with us quite often. We were happy to have her. Mark found work at the elementary school close by, and I took care of an elderly lady. At times it was difficult since we still had to pay the mortgage on the mobile home, and we needed to save for a different car.
By December Mark received a letter from Maine telling him to come back to work. He loved Tennessee and his job at the school. Again, we found ourselves asking the Lord to show us His will. The old job paid well, and it would be financially wiser for him to return to Maine. Now I was alone with the kids and that was hard. I missed Mark and I knew he was missing me. The winter was cold. Tennessee was much warmer and I felt badly for him. I was counting the days when we would see each other again! Mark came back in May and we headed north, thanking God for His leading and for such a precious time with our family.

Yes I did find a way to share my book. I love giving it away, because my main goal is to encourage someone out there that has gone through similar experiences as me. My book is about coming through an alcoholic, abusive home as a child, unscarred, with God's help. I explain how I learned forgiveness through it all, something we all have a hard time doing sometimes. There is a God who cares and understands.
