How different was the home life my children had in contrast with my own childhood. The Lord had heard the prayer of my young heart and had shown me how to find that “better way to live.” I could see the fruit of following His instruction all around me...a living miracle.

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

My Andrew was doing great in school. One little girl in his class had been with him since first grade! Sandy was always sitting near Andrew, and always saying how much she liked him. By the time he was twelve, they were the best of friends. Andrew was such a happy guy. I guess you would have called him the class clown! Everyone enjoyed being around Andrew, including his teachers. They just loved him.
Tim told us about a job opening as dorm parents for the boys at the Academy. Mark and I applied for the position and got the job! We packed our things, and moved into the dorm. It was not an easy task to take care of seven boys, but with God's help we managed to do it! The bright spot was being able to have all three of our children with us for the year!
That May my dad died from lung disease as a result of all the years of smoking and the foundry work. Sorrow and relief filled my heart. Dad had been sick for a long time and I was thankful he was not suffering any more. During my last visits with him, I noticed a real change of heart. He was sad for how he had lived his life and treated my mom and us. He became caring and soft, something he had not been for a long time.

Andrew, Taking His Stand For Jesus

About four weeks later we learned the school was down-sizing, and our position was no longer needed. We headed back to Norridgewock which made Andrew quite happy. Upon returning home, Andrew began taking Bible studies with Martha who was also Sandy's grandmother. He wanted to be baptized in the river like Tim. He was twelve years old and we knew he was ready.
Andrew's friend, Knowell, requested baptism at the same time. It was another marvelous Sabbath day when we all went to the river to witness Andrew taking his stand for our Lord. After the baptism, we gathered at Knowell's home for a Sabbath potluck. The church members were there and it was such a blessed day! Again we were praising God for His faithful watch care and Andrew's joy.
What a day of happiness it was for Mark and I, the proud parents, to know each one of our sons have made choices to follow the Lord. We truly were looking at a living miracle!
